No one has ever seen God, but the only Son, who is at the Father’s bosom, has made him known (John 1:18).

This scripture tells that no human had ever known the Father until Jesus came to the earth. Jesus was the one who introduced the Father to humanity for the first time. John says in the same chapter:

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the authority to become children of God—born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh nor the will of man, but of God (vv. 12-13).

Just as your biological relationship with your father and mother is physically real in this world, your spiritual relationship with God is real in the spiritual world. Your DNA, the genetic material inherited from your father and mother, proves that you are your parents’ child. If so, there must be some spiritual essence that proves that you are God’s child. In the above scripture, this essence is expressed as “the authority (right) to become children of God,” which is differentiated from the physical and biological one—“born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh nor the will of man, but of God.” We also have the following scripture:

As he desired, he gave birth to us through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures (James 1:18).

Note the expression, ”he gave birth to us (apokueo),” which denotes giving birth to what is conceived. And it was “through the word of truth” that we were born of God. In fact, the Bible tells us that all creatures and things were created and have been held together through Christ, the Word.

For by him all things were created … He is before all things, and in him all things hold together (Col 1:16-17).

The existence of the Father in the minds of many believers is a mere abstract idea, and they do not realize that God the Creator is their own Father whom they call “Abba”—daddy, papa, etc. If you are his son, in you are embedded the spiritual DNA inherited from the Father. This DNA contains numerous bases of information, which determines how you grow up to be built into the body of Christ in the order of your own calling from the Father. May you fully know that “Abba” is your God and live as his son, fulfilling your calling.

Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father (Gal 4:6).”
